Virginia Farm Bureau. Those wonderful folks who signed my paycheck. The Farm Bureau is a state level organization representing farm interests in Virginia and Washington, through the American Farm Bureau. There is an insurance side of the house. Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual is one of the largest property, casualty and life insurers in Virginia. Great place to work! Make sure they get one of your resumes.

If you followed the link you know this is the site for Ginter Park Presbyterian Church in the North Side of Richmond. Greatest collection of people you can imagine. Young, old, students and faculty from the Seminary and people who haven’t given up on the city. Come try our Peace Class & youth programs

This one may have been tougher. The Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation represents an achievement in the property and casualty insurance industry. It follows a course of study in areas pertinent to insurance including law, economics, accounting, ethics, insurance company operations and, of course, a survey of the various types of property and casualty insurance. A designee must pass a test in each of 10 areas. The typical progression takes 5 years. Some people do it faster. I was not in that “fast track” group.

This is a site in honor of Fran Davis, the really wonderful psychologist I have been married to since 1971. The web page with her name is completely my doing (as she is quick to disown it). She deserves something a lot bigger and better.

In college I roomed next to brothers born in Germany. Their father was one of the von Braun missile scientists that developed our missile systems at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. Turned me on to soccer. Started coaching and refereeing when my sons were young. Now my big holiday is Boxing Day with English soccer all day.

I refereed high school football for four years. My first instructor recommended “The Thunderer” whistle from Acme. I know it sounds like someone made it up. This is NOT the company that “Wiley Coyote” gets his stuff from to pursue the “Roadrunner”. Its an English whistle manufacturer. This site will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about whistles. They are proud to have been used on Titanic. It is completely charming. It is as if some Victorian manufacturer was transported 150 years into the future and put on the web. Enjoy!

This is the link for the Tai Chi for Heath Institute site. In my declining years I have become somewhat of devotee of Tai Chi. I now teach three classes and take two.
Click on “My Tai Chi” button on the menu bar for more details..

One of the delights of my life Is working puzzles. I do two Ken-Kens, a crossword and a Sudoku every morning. I also download and work on a collection of Acrostic puzzles from Puzzle Baron for when things go slow.

I used to tell my “Hokie” friends at Virginia Farm Bureau that Auburn was the land grant university Virginia Tech wanted to be. That was before Michael Vick (and the “dogfighting” revelations). Still a great place for engineers, farmers, veterinarians and economics majors :).

I am a “Cold War” veteran. Part of my service in the Air Force was a year spent at Thule AB, Greenland. It is located about 800 miles from the North Pole. An interesting thing was that magnetic north was southwest of Thule. There were tracking screens the size of football fields that could track items as small as an astronauts glove lost on a space walk. Being from Alabama the USAF sent me to Montana for two years first. This is the official USAF site. I was assigned to Thule during 1968-1969. Another site is Thule Travel.
